A clamp is described as being ‘a device, usually of some rigid material, for strengthening or supporting objects or fastening them together.’ In rudimentary terms this is an accurate description, however it doesn’t begin describe is the huge range of ways in which you can clamp items. Toolbank’s range of clamps is constantly growing, with suppliers like Irwin and Bessey constantly inventing new ways to revolutionise the way in which we think of the simple clamp. In this section you will find a short summary of each type of clamp we sell.

Rack Clamps are generally used in heavy industry. The clamps consist of a notched bar worked to a J shape and a sliding jaw with a tommy bar.

Clamp Heads are supplied as a pair without a bar. This enables the user to create their own clamping device.

Flooring Clamps are used specifically for clamping floorboards together whilst nailing them down. Two cams grip the side of the joist whilst the boards are forced together.

G Clamps are so called because of their resemblance to the letter G. The frame is usually made of forged steel and clamping is facilitated by turning the screw thread with metal foot to clamp material to the frame. Edging Clamps are a type of G clamp but with an additional screw at a right angle to the original, it can be used on straight or curved work.

Screw Clamps work on a similar principle to G clamps. They comprise a steel rod with a frame on the top and a screwed hinge to clamp onto the work piece. Lever Clamps are very similar to screw clamps but with a ratchet lever instead of a screw.

Angle and Corner Clamps are specifically designed to hold two objects together to create an angled joint to fasten together.

Locking Clamps have a fixed jaw one side and a screwed jaw on the other. Adjusting the screw closes the jaw and applies pressure.

Trigger Clamps are simple bar clamps which can be speedily adjusted, they have a fixed jaw on the end of the bar and a jaw on a trigger to quickly apply pressure to the work piece.

Spring Clamps are a very simple means of exerting pressure whilst gluing etc. Pressure is exerted by a spring, this means that the force of the spring cannot be adjusted.

Band Clamps are used when clamping two items of awkward shapes or where pressure is required from multiple angles.

Sash Clamps are primarily designed for clamping large sections of work whilst gluing. Constructed from a 'U' box section aluminium extruded bar and fitted with a cast head and foot, their design makes these clamps both lightweight and strong.

T Bar Clamps are a strong steel T bar drilled at regular intervals, the head is fixed and the slide is locked into position with a steel pin.

Toggle Clamps are fixed to the bench and work by clamping the pieces to the bench. They are infinitely adjustable within their size range.

Failed to find Class are for laying parquet, laminated and panel flooring. They are similar in design to a ratchet strap.

Seaming Tools are for clamping and positioning components with a smooth surface that require low clamping force. Suction cups generate a vacuum and the seaming tool clamps automatically to the work piece.
