Pipe Cutters
These are for steel pipe and are designed for use in confined spaces where it is impossible to rotate the tool 360°.
As each wheel covers one third of the arc, the pipe can be cut with a limited movement.
Link Type Pipe Cutters
These are for confined spaces, but specifically for cast iron pipe.
This cutter has a number of wheels, located in what amounts to a caterpillar track. The links of this track are wound around the pipe, locked onto the cutter handle and tensioned. As each wheel covers a small section of the arc, only limited movement is required and even if the pipe is irregular in shape, the linked wheels will follow the contour.
These cutters have two wide rollers and one fastcutting thin-section wheel for slicing through steel pipe. The rollers ensure that the cutter stays squarely 'on-track' and also smoothes down the 'burr' which is produced.
