Sockets

Sockets have square drive holes of 1/4, 3/8, 1/2, 3/4 and 1in, and are designed to take varying types of handles such as ratchet, 'L' bar, sliding T bar, hinged or speed brace as well as extension pieces.

1/4in Square Drive Sockets

Covers a range from 4mm to 14mm (3/16 to 1/2in A/F) and are hexagon or six sided. These are the favourite sockets for model makers and anyone doing fine work using small nuts and bolts.

3/8in Square Drive Sockets

Covers a range from 7mm to 22mm (1/4 to 13/16in A/F) and are bihexagon or twelve pointed. Deep sockets are also available in 3/8in drive. Also for comparatively small work.

1/2in Square Drive Sockets

Covers a range from 8mm to 32mm (3/8 to 1 1/4in A/F). Bihexagon and deep sockets are available. This is the most popular range of sockets, considered to be the standard.

3/4in Square Drive Sockets

Covers a range from 19mm to 55mm (7/8 to 2in A/F). These are bihexagon and deep sockets are not available. These sockets are more robust and for heavier and larger work.

1in Square Drive Sockets

Covers a range from 36mm to 80mm (1 7/16 to 3 1/8 A/F). These are hexagon and deep sockets are not available. They are for heavy-duty work and the largest size sockets.

Impact Sockets

For use with pneumatic nut drivers. Available in 3/8, 1/2, 3/4 and 1in square drive. All these impact sockets are hexagon and are heavier and stronger than the hand used type. Deep impact sockets are available.

Spark Plug Sockets

These are available in 3/8in and 1/2in square drive and are designed for use with spark plugs. They are available in 5/8in and 13/16in sizes. The Neoprene tube insert retains the spark plug and protects the insulation from damage.
